I thank the doctors of Sushruta Hospital for aOrthopedics and Traumatology for giving me the treatment that relieved me from my pain. I had undergone spine surgery 4 years back for disc herniation and I was pain-free for a long time until 6 months back. I was scared I had another disc herniation and feared I had to undergo another surgery. But at SHOT, the doctor examined me and after X-rays were done explained to me that the pain was due to the small joints between the vertebrae, called the facets which can develop arthritis like the knee joints. First, I was given a diagnostic block, which is meant to pinpoint the origin of pain and also gives an idea to the patient what to expect from the main procedure. Once the level was confirmed I underwent RadioFrequency Ablation of the nerves that supply the facet joint, called the medial nerves. It is more than 2 years now that I am pain free, I don’t require any painkillers and can do all my activities with due precautions.
